How to Post Tweet with Shorten URL on iPhone
I follow most of the tweets on my iPhone using TwitterFon. It suits me very well except I wasn’t able to twitter anything that I find useful on the Safari on the iPhone. So until I found this useful little free app, I usually send tweets with shortened url on Firefox using TwitterBar addon, which is also super easy to use and automatically uses http://tinyurl.com to shorten the link. But now I can do all that on my iPhone.
The app is called twitterlink. You can click the link to open the app directly in your iTune App Store. Configuring it is a little trick but the instruction explains pretty so well that I found no problem to have it set up within 5 minutes. Basically, all you need to configure is
1) adding a JavaScript link to the Safari bookmark, and
2) adding your twitter user info in Twitterlink app.
And here is an example of how I used it to send a “2500+ free icon” tweet the other day.
1) I browsed through my feeds in Google Reader on Safari, and I found this “2500+ free icon” post interesting, so I scrolled it down to the end of the post and tapped “see orginal” link which opened another window displaying the original post with original URL.
2) Then I tapped the “Tweet with Twitterlink” bookmark which launched the Twitterlink app.
3) Once the Twitterlink app was launched, it automatically requireed a shorted url using http://is.gd web service. Then I started tapping in all the words, and tapped “Send” button after I finished. The tweet then was on its way to the twitter land.

Hopefully it helps because it certainly does help me a lot.
Update [May 9, 2009]: with Twitterrific version 2, you probably don’t need this anymore as Twitterrific has the URL shortening feature naturally built in.
