Kent J. Chen's WebLog

...information technology, internet, and random thoughts

The First Post via Live Writer

.Text was dead long time ago but since there is no other good alternatives that would migrate my current posts over I was stuck and painfully kept using the built-in online admin tool to do the posting, which was one of the reasons that I didn't do a lot of posts for quite a while.  .Text just doesn't work with Live Writer at all.

Just about a few days ago, Ken Hales who uses my own customized skin on .Text emailed me and asked if I am able to upgrade my KJC skin for Subtext, a fork of .Text.  Of course, this is exactly what I have been waiting for.  After just a few Google check, I started upgrading my .Text blog engine without any hesitation. I had a little bit problem when testing on my own computer because of my new Vista built-in IIS 7 but was working great after I figured that I had to switch the Application pool mode to classic.  And then with Ken's help, I successfully imported my old posts over.  There is a little issue that the post categories doesn't work properly but I don't really bother.

Updating my skin is also extremely easy.  I updated it within an hour and everything is all ready.  I will be sharing my skin with Subtext soon after I clean it up a little bit more to make it more standard.

The first thing I did after I put my new Subtext version of blog online was to test if it works with Live Writer...and bingo.  The Live Writer connected my Blog without any problem.  Everything now works just like a charm.

Now I am back right on track!!
