When will I upgrade my Vista to XP?

The most recent post, Review: Windows XP (aka The Advantages of Upgrading From Vista To XP), from Coding Sanity is all over the net after being posted on Slash.dot.  Both posts are all bumped up with full of comments, not surprisingly, most of them agree what the post said, and very disappointed the new feature of DRM that prevents people from playing the media they legally own and the performance that is twice slower than Windows XP. That sucks.

I agree too after having been used Vista on my new laptop for almost over half year. I consider myself as a pretty heavy load user. My desktop constantly has 10 or more windows open and many different of services running in the back, but it is a lot slower than running the same thing on my 4-year-old computer on XP. In addition to that

  • Aero Glass is still too new to work with the cool dual-monitor support software, which prevents me from running this type of software to take advantage of using dual-monitor.
  • Windows Explorer hangs a lot of time when I browse a new network folder, no matter how many files in it.
  • Stupid network settings make me a lot harder when working at my home network.  Yes, a lot more secure but I rather have a network that works.  And yes, my wireless frequently tells me that I have the problem to get an IP address from DHCP server at home.  Thankfully, I do not have the same problem while I am at work with the same laptop.
  • No more large font option (don't like enlarge the DPI to 120% or whatever) to enjoy the bigger text on the desktop.
  • etc. etc.

My answer to the question when I will be upgrading my Vista to XP is, whenever I have a chunk of time because reload and reconfigure everything is also painful.  Stuck with Vista for now and missing my old XP badly everyday.
