Wired revealed a tip on how to get more out the day by sleeping only two hours a day.
Studies by the Chronobiology Research Institute show that for those on round-the-clock schedules - sailors, astronauts, gamers - it's more effective to recharge in short stints. For survival, the brain will eventually adapt by entering the REM state much faster. The cumulative result: a higher percentage of the best kind of z's. The most time-efficient strategy calls for a 20-minute nap every 4 hours. Once you start dreaming during naps - a sign you've hit REM - you'll begin to feel better.
Interesting. I sleep averagely 4-5 hours a day but have two naps on both way to work and back home on the transit, 20-minute each. I do feel pretty tired sometime but most of the time I am totally fine. Kind close to the trick. Thanks to the transit and the studies referred by Wired, so I can actually live longer in another way.
By the way, Wired does warn that the long-term side effects of this tip are unknown but you will have plenty of time to worry about it with only two hours of sleep a day.
