Totally unlikely!! I am kind a anit-QuickTax person now. Why? Simply because they treat the customers in a very unfair bad way. Simply they don't respect their customers!!
I have been using TaxWiz for last 5 years and was very satisfied what they offered. It might be true that Taxwiz wasn't as good as QuickTax but $19.99 for 4 returns with pretty easy use and accurate software really made it as a serious competitor to QuickTax. So QuickTax mad a quite smart move and bought TaxWiz early 2007 and discontinued TaxWiz right away. Fortunately, due to largely requests from TaxWiz users and the bad acquisition timing, they had no choice but still leave TaxWiz survived for the tax year of 2006, but you had to purchase the copy from retailer store, no online download at all. I, as well as my other 2 friends who also had been TaxWiz users for last past 3 years, managed to have our year 2006 tax filed via TaxWiz, even though we all had no idea what we are going to use for year 2007.
As we are in the new year, it is time now for us to think how we are going to prepare our taxes. Too bad, QuickTax offers a very ridiculous price range to its customer this year, which is a typically bad news for a user who used to be Taxwiz' customer because simply you are not respected. For my case, I have to spend $39.99 to prepare my tax online, meaning that I might not be able to obtain a physical of your own tax file copy. I need to double the price to $79.99 in order to do so, while I used to only spend $20 the most every year. How ridiculous it is!! I have seen a lot of merging cases before but to be honest, I never seen a business model like this after the merge. QuickTax thinks that buying its competitor's company, burying its software into the soil, and offering its customer a much higher price software would simply get much higher profit. Sounds logical, eh??
No, I am not going to let them to get my money. A business model like this simply is not going to deserve my money. I am going to review their other competitors products to see if there is any that suits my feet. But preparing the worst, I rather pay more money to my accountant.
