InfoWorld informs its users that Microsoft warns businesses of impending autoupdate to IE7. Time to say goodbye to ancient old IE6 now. Microsoft said this move would no longer require users to prove they owned a legitimate copy of XP before they were allowed to download the newer browser, and the move was prompted by security concerns. Nice move and would save XP in some way. However, the more concern should come from the server which we, as IT pros, need to stay caution and keep our eyes on. Blocking it from upgrading on the server would be a good idea to think about.
At least, InfoWorld didn't think this is as bad as the Windows XP cut-over which happens end of June this year, so they didn't launch another petition trying to save IE6. I wouldn't if they do because moving to IE7 is a must go, even though FireFox runs way much better.
