What to do when the volume that host WSUS content folder gets out of storage? The easiest way is to move the content folder to a new location, whether it’s a new storage volume on the same server or a shared folder on another different server. And the tool WsusUtil.exe that comes with WSUS has this feature built right in.
Open Command Prompt window, navigate to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Update Services\Tools
And run the following command.
WsusUtil MoveContent new_location move_log
If you already copied the content folder you can use the SkipCopy switch to bypass the copying process.
The relocation process could take a while to finish but once it’s done, it’s all set and you can go ahead remove the old content folder.
doesn’t work because you can’t login to the database directly. You will get error:
Content move failed. Please refer to the log file for more details.
Fatal Error: Cannot open database “SUSDB” requested by the login. The login failed.
Maybe you are using SQL database for your WSUS, rather than the one that comes with the installation.
